The best growing media for sustainable growth

At Cultiwool, we are committed to continuous improvement in our stone wool product range. Our focus is on providing smart and innovative solutions in water management, light exposure, composition, and nutrition. These features promote excellent root growth, making each of Cultiwool's products recognizable and unique. Our stone wool products are not only efficient but also easier and safer to use. We take pride in the responsibility we bear, delivering the best quality with minimal risk. With a wealth of combined knowledge, skills, and experience, choosing Cultiwool means staying ahead of the curve in the world of cultivation.

Why natural binders matter in sustainable stone wool

Traditional stone wool often uses binders containing formaldehyde or phenol. While effective in manufacturing, these substances can be harsh – especially when free formaldehyde remains unneutralized. Much like hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), these compounds are highly reactive and may damage delicate root systems, particularly in stressed or vulnerable plants. That’s why growers must exercise caution when using substrates made with synthetic binders.

Cultiwool Prime eliminates this concern by using a natural binder, significantly reducing the risk of root damage. This natural approach not only enhances safety for young plants but may also provide an additional benefit: improved plant resilience. Similar to natural substrates like coco peat, the organic components of our binder can help stimulate healthy root development and early-stage vigor.

With Cultiwool Prime, you get the best of both worlds – the stability and cleanliness of stone wool, combined with the gentle, plant-friendly benefits of nature.

Uniformity

A homogeneous stone wool product is essential for unrestricted and regular root growth. Cultiwool stonewool produced in Europe is the highest quality stonewool in the market for hydroponic systems. Stonewool used in Cultiwool is certified by RHP. Therefor Cultiwool offers maximum uniformity to optimally control water and nutrient application. The result is a uniform crop that will result in higher yields, better quality, and less energy usage.

Total control

Water, EC and pH distribution can be very well controlled with Cultiwool rock wool substrates, both vegetative and generative, depending on the needs of the crop and at different moments during the cultivation.

Unique water distribution

Cultiwool is the first to introduce – as quality leader – the donut ring on big blocks to improve the water distribution.
Already for many years Cultiwool has the highly appreciated drain grooves under the big
blocks to improve the waterflow under the block, specially on tables or small gutters.
