Traditional stone wool often uses binders containing formaldehyde or phenol. While effective in manufacturing, these substances can be harsh – especially when free formaldehyde remains unneutralized. Much like hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), these compounds are highly reactive and may damage delicate root systems, particularly in stressed or vulnerable plants.
